• Common: Trichomonas vaginalis (causes vaginitis and occasionally urethritis in males).

Empiric

metronidazole HMLSchedNZFPMLnoids Metronidazole F: 1 Half life: 8 hours Elimination: oxidation, glucuronidation fe: 0.1

PO 400 mg twice a day for 7 days or PO 2000 mg stat

• Metabolised by unknown pathways. (fe = 0.1).
• Administration of the large stat dose in the evening is to minimise side effects.

OR

• Metabolised by unknown pathways. (fe = 0.1).
• Avoid in pregnancy.
• Administration of the large stat dose in the evening is to minimise side effects.
